The Bloomingdale Police Department recently installed a prescription medicine drop box in the lobby of Police Headquarters / Borough Hall. The drop box a stationary disposal unit that resembles a mailbox which  is available to the public between the hours of 8AM and Midnight 7 days a week. Residents can drop off any unwanted or unused prescription medication. Please note that liquids and syringes (sharps) cannot be accepted. Always be sure to remove personal information from any bottles or containers that you are disposing of.

DON'T FLUSH YOUR MEDICATION: A recent study shows that 80 percent of US streams contain small amounts of human medicines. Sewage systems cannot remove these medicines from water that is released into lakes, rivers or oceans. Fish and other aquatic animals have shown adverse effects from medicines in the water. And, even very small amounts of medicine have been found in drinking water.
